A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death in the neck during an argument with an acquaintance after his girlfriend's birthday party in the city of Punta Alta, in the south of Buenos Aires Province. The incident occurred early Sunday morning at a residence on San Juan Street, 773, where the victim, identified as Santiago Renna Merlo, was celebrating with his partner and family group. Witnesses indicated that during a heated argument, Buono pulled out a knife and fatally injured Renna Merlo, who died at the scene from a deep wound to the cervical area. After a call to 911, police arrived at the scene and confirmed that the young man was 'lying in a pool of blood' and showed no vital signs. In response, police launched a lockdown operation in the area, which led to the suspect's arrest a few blocks away, specifically at the intersection of Santiago del Estero at 750. During the search, officers managed to seize the knife believed to have been used in the attack, found about 25 meters from the scene, discarded in a ditch. The case, classified as homicide, is under the jurisdiction of UFIJ No. 5 of the BahÃa Blanca Judicial Department, where they reported that they are currently working to reconstruct the sequence of events to determine if there were other people involved.
